A new soap dispenser may help young children in schools, and daycare centers learn proper hand washing techniques and help reduce spread of colds and other diseases. Proper hand washing technique requires two elements: sufficient friction with soap and water on all hand surfaces and time. The DeGERM-inator UV-5D portable ultraviolet sanitizer uses short-wave UV (germicidal) light to destroy or render harmless a wide range of disease-causing bacteria and viruses. The UV light has been tested and proven to safely sanitize cell phones, telephone receivers, toilet seats and flush handles, computer mouse devices and keyboards, plastic toys, door knobs, ATM touch screens and many other commonly contaminated surfaces. Simply shine the UV light over any smooth, nonporous surface to be disinfected at a distance of one-half inch or less for six to eight seconds. The short-wave UV rays will kill virtually all germs, including influenza, salmonella, E.coli, streptococcus, staphylococcus and hepatitis.
